This Institute was approved by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and launched in 1996 - 97. The main objective of starting this institute was to cater to the tremendous increase in demand for admissions in the Polytechnic courses. A number of other Diploma Courses are on the anvil and would be introduced in due course. SRM Polytechnic has followed the example of its predecessor, The Valliammai Polytechnic and established an infrastructure that incorporates the very latest in technology as well as training standards. AGE LIMIT SC / ST Candidates 25 years for 10th standard passed students for admission into I year 26 years for Hr. Sec. with vocational subjects for admission into II year For all other candidates - 22 years for 1st and 23 years for 2nd year direct admission.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION Students who have secured a pass as specified below would be eligible for admission into the particular year as mentioned.
First year a) 10th standard in High School / Matriculation (or) b) Final year examination of the Technical High School Course conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamilnadu. (or) c) Any examination recognised as equivalent by the Director of School Education, Government of Tamilnadu. Courses offered (3 year Diploma) Computer Technology (DCT), Automobile Engineering (DAE), Mechanical Engineering (DME), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (DEEE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (DECE)
