EDUCATION
WITH A BROADER OUTLOOK
The Sri Ramasamy Memorial
(SRM) Group of Educational Institutions zealously
pursues a philosophy of continuous learning. Allthough
it is an important objective to prepare students to
score creditably at the examinations conducted by the
respective universities and boards, equally important
is our policy to encourage the students to develop
skills and attitudes that equip them to approach life
with confidence. Every student is inspired and
motivated to give of his or her best in each field of
acitivity, especially in his or her chosen discipline.
The focus of training at SRM for each student is
always on all-round development so that he or she
emerges as a mature and responsible citizen, with
qualities of leadership and service-mindedness.
Therefore the period of learning at SRM includes,
apart from the academic curriculum, proficiency in
general knowledge, sports and cultural activities as
well.
First and foremost in our scheme are our students who
by their commitment and a great sense of participation
help to achieve the goals and objectives stated above.
Highly motivated faculty with outstanding academic
background supplement and complement the efforts of
students.
The provision of excellent infrastructural facilities
such as superlative housing in modern buildings,
sophisticated laboratories for research as well as
practical training, hi-tech computerisation,
well-stocked libraries, comfortable hostels and ample
scope for co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities are the distinguishing features of the
institutes of the SRM group.
PLAYING GREATER ROLE
Another area where
students are given ample encouragement is the need to
increase their political awareness and social
responsibility.
A disheartening fact about todays students is their
single-mindedness of purpose in furthering their
professional careers alone. They
shy away from political and social activity and do not
entertain the desire to attempt to cleanse and improve
the system.
Leaders of various
political and social organisations are invited to
address the students on their ideological philosophy
and programmes. The students are encouraged to
actively discuss issues of national importance and
thereby enlarge their awareness of our constitutional
set-up, parliamentary procedures and other societal
aspects. The interactive participation increases their
sense of involvement and induces them to shoulder
greater responsibilities and display remarkable
leadership in the development of our great democratic
and secular nation.
